In today's news post, we will be featuring a project titled: Ivan's Secrets which is being designed with CryENGINE 3 and is being developed by Cruxic Games, CryDev user: jlea. The project we will be featuring in today's news post; Ivan's Secrets, is a survival RPG set in an alternate version of the Aral Sea. A mysterious, hostile and remote area devoid of allies and nearby civilization. Once a part of the Soviet Union, the player will have to survive and try to find a way leading to safety. The team behind Ivan's Secrets; Cruxic Games, state that for the past few years they have been checking out real life mysteries and strange conspiracies in order to make their project as atmospheric as possible. ![]() Story An area of Central Asia has recently undergone a drastic change. Called the "Horizon", people who enter are rarely seen again; the ones returning refusing to speak of their experiences. Naturally explorers and adventurers all over the world have been drawn to the area. Legends speak of terrors and strange phenomena but plethoras of valuable resources from the ex-USSR. The player is another explorer motivated by his own curiosity. Media Gameplay Day The player will scavenge the land searching for weapons, items, perishables and deployable and engaging in limited combat with sparse groups of looters. Certain items (campfires,lights,generators) can be deployed in any area the player wishes, leading to the eventual creation of a safe haven for the player. Night Terrors emerge, and it's up to you to survive based on the items you've gathered during the day. However, certain areas will only be accessible at night time so it's up to you. Do you risk adventuring out or stay and defend the fort? Aspects The weather will be a major issue, with dust storms and left over chemicals often causing hazards to explorers without cover. Weapons will be very realistic and properly handled with accurate recoil and free-aiming. Combat will be sparse but difficult. No crosshair or HUD is provided (except for certain details) to improve immersion. For instance the player will have to check the time on his watch. Players can fully customize their character, with a personal inventory and armour slots. ![]() The team; Cruxic Games, stated that they originally started work for this project on the Source Engine but moved to CryENGINE 3 this year. The team has also stated that they are currently looking for people experienced in modelling, environment design and sound artists to join their team.
