Well, it's more of a HLSL thing than it is a UDK thing.

I thought that UDK Ran on Mac OS and iOS for the end user

So why would HLSL be involved?

It would more or less be GLSL right?

Nah. It's more about UDK have shader editor, and CE3 don't ;p.

It can't be done in CE3 two things missing:
1. Shader Editor
2. Vertex Paint Tool.

Her.

And yeah I missed that single word :D. But my point is still valid, as you can't do it on your own within SDK :D

It would be HLSL because he's using a DX11 shader tech.

Oh, you got me.
UDK is clearly much better because of this.
We should all just quit CE3 now.

The tech is there. It just cant be done from scratch inside the sandbox. If that's a problem for you, why are you still here?

we don't need an editor, just a compiler, and maybe some documentation...

Because I don't give crap for vertex painted icicles.
And what is stopping me from using both anyway ?

The vertex paint modifier in Max is compatible with CE though... unless you meant something completely different.

Really though this shader isn't really necessary. an alpha-mapped plane could do the job almost as easily. It would be nice though.
