It seems really popular on this forum to suggest developing a game that is already made. A clone if you like.

"We are looking for people to make a new MW/Splinter Cell/Final Fantasy/Battlefield" etc.

Why is that?

Well it's easy to design, and you probably know exactly what is wrong with the original to begin with. And have a craving for gameplay like that without any of the known issues.

I am not referring to modding, where it is a quite common thing that works, a fan-made thing sort of, you know its just for fun.


but a completely new game?
