One thing I noticed about test's screens is that he never showed any tree canopies.
I think everone is obsessed with his stuff for no reason - there is a better forest right here. Much better. More variation than his, you actually have trees with canopies, you showed a video... I mean seriously; I looked through the first 10 pages and I went 'test who?'
I've started making my own assets too, and I am going to release them to the community as soon as I get a little pack of 10 or so assets.
You should too... I mean you made this stuff like 5 months ago... you should really release what you have for others to spice up their maps with. The modding community definitely needs it - as the assets they have right now are overused and make maps seem a little stale, visually.
Soon I will learn how to do detail and touch bending, import what I've made so far, and then start peridocially releasing packs for everyone to use. It's mostly for a personal portfolio for jobs that I am doing this, but I figured why not release them to the community as well.
You can see the 3 things I've made here. Criticism is appreciated.
Vegetation Tutorial (1)Oh, and if you want some super-high resolution leaf and tree textures, check out
http://www.cgtextures.com for a slew of free textures. There are hundreds of bark and leaf texturs alone, along with hundreds and hundreds of other textures too. They are all VERY high quality... but from the look of your latest stuff, it seems that you have found that site.
One thing I would really like to know... how is performance with your assets in a full scene?
