I'm afraid I can't help copyright your idea. By and large, you can simply make it very difficult to prove that someone hasn't stolen it via documenting it very heavily before showing it to anyone. Its the same principle a design team would take when they pitched a game to a publisher.

Also, some updates on audio usage coming in shortly.

I would assume (based off the existence of a mod for Star Wars: Empire at War) that it was allowed, but as always i'd suggest contacting MGM to ask.

Maps recreating the environment might be alright, but its hard to tell without asking Rockstar or Valve.

Importing Crysis assets into any other engine isn't allowed at all. Wouldn't advise it unless you want a C&D order, as it breaks the terms of the EULA you agreed when installing the game/SDK.

CoD, i don't honestly know, without any previous cases involving the series. Best bet is e-mailing Activision about it. X-Men mod, I'd be very, very suprised if that didn't get a C&D, as its got plenty of games out already for that franchise and Marvel can be quite protective over its IP.

Honestly? I wouldn't recommend it.. its your call to make, but I'd personally just go for the gameplay style, not copying the maps as well.

As sguiggers said, why not just create something that plays in an identical fashion but don't copy and then call it something else. That way its still the kind of game you wanted to make but its not going to run the risk of any kind of IP issue.

Why is Star Wars on there? Lucasfilm is probably the laxest IP holder of any when it comes to fan productions.

Regarding copyright registrations, as soon as you come up with an original idea it is yours and protected by copyright. (Unless you came up with it under the employment of a company in which case etc.)
The registration is simply legal proof that you came up with the idea at least by that date. So if someone challenges your ownership of the idea you can pull that out in court and prove definitely that you came up with the idea first.
But copyright is still theoretically effective from the moment of conception, even if it isn't always enforcable as such.

It means using Jedi or Sith powers are not allowed, rather than Star Wars in general. :)

You have to have this "idea" down in writing, in a tangible form. You can't copyright an idea as such, more the interpretation of it. Example - I can't copyright having a post apocalyptic wasteland with mutants and bandits, but I can copyright Fallout 3.

Quoting from Lawdit:
Copyright will protect the actual treatment, format or synopsis (as well as any other documents that detail the idea). It does not directly protect the idea, though registering the work would at least establish evidence of the content of your idea at that time. Any direct copying of your material by another writer would be copyright infringement.

Basically, keep your own stuff very well documented, then you have less chance of someone attempting to infringe on your IP or copyright, the cost to them isn't worth it effectively.

They will be. The stance is that theres plenty of Jedi/Sith based games already basically.

I want to know what i have to do if i want to upload a C&C-Mod, i think it has to be legal because of Genesis for example, but i want to be sure about this part.

I don't honestly know - based off the fact that Genesis etc. exist, you'll be fine I'd assume..

Only way to be sure is by contacting EA and checking.

I already worte to EA earlier, i asked here later. I think C&C-matters are so trivial for them that they dont even write a line back if questioning, i think i will upload the mod soon and give Credits in a txt and tell everyone that i was not the inventor of the vehicledesigns.
