Post Topic: Silence - Open-Beta downloads 14-07 page.2 Posted 20.11.2008, 01:02 |
Silence - a snowy levelStory:You are sent on a mission to a mountain where a group of scientist are reported missing. A satellite-image shows you that a large group of unknown soldiers and scientists have taken over their base and might keep the scientist as prisoners. Your mission is to get these prisoners to safety. You will fly with helicopter from the US base located about 160 Km from where we expect the missing scientists to be, unfortunaly the mountain is in an altitude where the sky is to clear for our helicopter to land safe. To make sure your helicopter is not detect and the mission not failed, you have to land at the bottom of the mountain and slowly move to the top with your two squad-mates.Yup, the beta is out, so here is a following Beta Teaser Screen: Here is an installation step by step guide for the latest beta version1. Download the .zip file from MediaFire 2. Unzip ALL files to a place on your hard-drive 3. Run the Quick-Install(.exe) 3a. If asked, select your crysis installation folder 4. Run installation with the 'Go' arrow 5. Start crysis, and open the console and type in "con_restricted 0" (without "") to allow access to console commands 6. Load the level by typing in "map Silence_1_0" (Without "") and press Enter Thats it, I expect this version to contain a huge amount of small bugs, and a few major ones to, especialy in the last part of the level, since I did not manage to look this through before my deadline

I can try Later anyway Quote: Originally posted by oyvind92 Maybe a bit more detail, but thats just perfectionism I will of cause put more details into the map, in fact, that is the only step I have left, but at the snowy places I try to keep it dead and easy to get lost, and without too much details. Also I try to keep the tris between 500.000-1.000.000, and not higher than 1.200.000 that is less than half than Crytek's own maps.. So it run VERY smooth ) Thank you both for your critism :]

It makes such a difference too the atmosphere
anyway, keep it up!

Looks nice, maybe a lilm bit more detail, so it get better, and try to mix the texture, cause on the first picture u posted, there's 1 texture all the way down, look a bit bad, so if u can mix the texture it would be perfect.

Nice update ) But I think some of the pictures are too dark and some too bright... Maybe tweak the ToD a bit?

Heya, it's time for an update.. Again :] First of all, the bad news, I had some problems with my computer, which made it crash every 10 to 30 minutes, which made it incredeble hard to do anything and slowed the progress down to the minimum. Anywho It toke me some time to locate the problem, and after a week or so, I found out that my hard-drive was way to hot to touch. The Good news is that I succesfully fixed it today Heres a picture of my solution: Cooler Solution: I'm very proud of the solution, and for those who can't see it: "It's two old graphic-card passive-coolers glued onto my hard-disc top" -------------------- Okay, enough of this, heres a little about the map itself Currently at version 1_9_6_6! The last couple of weeks I have focused a lot on the flowgraphs, especialy going through my old ones, to improve the overall quality.. Flow Graphs: The Screenshots from this post is taken 15 minutes ago so you can get an idea of how far I'm in the the development right now :] Screenshots: As you can see, a few new area's have bin done. What you can't see is the "Cut Scenes" and the game-play itself, so here is a small teaser for you: Teaser:Need upload X( I can't wait to show you more progress, and of cause to release the map since I do a lot of progress at the moment Hope to get some feedback, and once again I'm sorry the quality of the screenshots, my computer will for sure crash if I take the graphics any futher  -JakeCake

Today is a big day, I finished the whole level from start to end Now I only have a few things to do before upload, listed here: - Rewrite all dialogs (Again)
- Add a minimap of the mountain
- Add animations to a few cutscenes
- Test for bugs
Expect a big update soon
