Post Topic: Cryengine 3 Sandbox first project. Posted 22.04.2012, 00:41 |
Hi everyone,
My name's Nikita. I'm a beginner in Sandbox. I just do simple levels and try to make a very realistic ones. I don't know what to say else. This's my first island, next time I'll show more screens.)))
Oh, something else. I want to ask: 1. When I start Sandbox, open my project and texture of the terrain comes back to default (I see grey squares), what's wrong? 2. And, I found how to move leaves on the trees, bushes and grass (I use materials --> bending options), but when I open project, they don't move, what I do wrong? Thanks.

For the terrain texture, have you generated terrain texture from File-menu after painting?
How are you placing the vegetation? By using Vegetation-tool in RollupBar bending should work.

1. Yes, I generated texture for terrain in File --> Generate terrain texture. After that I still see grey squares (I'll show screen), after that I use material editor, pick terrain, change texture, re-open project, texture out. 2. Rollupbar --> Vegetation works, but textures of the vegetations out, heither.

Painting Terrain in documentation explains how terrain layer and material are set up. Vegetation bending is probably just too vague to be seen, as default WindVector in environment settings is quite low. Try increasing WindVector according to attached picture.
I assume you are working with Free SDK?

Wow that's interesting... so the WindVector would effect the sand enough to make those squares visible. I see I will have my hands full if I decide to create something in CE3.

Nope, terrain and vegetation issues are separate and don't affect each other. There's no sand on the ground whatsoever; layer texture and material just need to be set up properly.

Actually I never thought about that before, but I have never noticed sand blowing with wind in either Crysis or Crysis 2. That I can recall?

Settings of the wind and "Assign terrain texture" works.) After re-opening the projects settings and texture didn't go anywhere, thanks.) And few new screens. After tutorials I try to make my island more realistic.)))

Island is looking quite nice already -- Quote by Geeman: ... Actually I never thought about that before, but I have never noticed sand blowing with wind in either Crysis or Crysis 2. That I can recall? There are dust clouds in Crysis but not dust lingering on ground, iirc.

Thanks a lot. Today I changed: Fog bottom (I think the sea looks better now), Blur (too much blur?), Sun rays, Terrian displacement map and some HDR and light settings.
