Post Topic: Brass Knuckle! Posted 30.03.2009, 17:07 |
Hi, I made a brass knuckle in max today. I'm a noob so it's kinda ugly, but if you are a "pro" please give suggestions so I can improve my model! :easter:

nice, it's looking good, i would like it more if it was just a pure one(without those points)

Here's almost the same pictures but with higher resolution.
What kind of texture should it have? Chrome or something?

Thanks, have look through it already but I think I found a "good" one.
Edit: I am a complete noob at texturing, getting strange texture on my model. Can anyone direct me in the right direction to start texturing etc?

Hey, when I'm trying to export a model (not the Knuckle) I get some errors and when I'm putting it in the level, it's there but it looks a bit weird.
I saw something about that in another thread but couldn't find it.
Let me know if you want a screen shot at the "house" in game.

Okey, I know I post very often but......
Here's the "house" in game. As you can see it's some strange "shadows" on the surface.
i have not assigned any texture on it.

Is there a "tool" in 3ds max like "Intersect with model" from Sketchup pro?

that depends. i think you are talkin about Geometry/Compound objects/Pro Boolean or Pro Cutter. btw is that max 2010 is see there? isn't that supposed o be released in 4 days or so? the errors are from missing UVW maps or missing smoothingGroups. there you have everything you need for texturing: http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=cipsb&view=videos&start=40

Okey, the thing i want to accomplish is like... I have a wall and a pre made window. I put the window in the wall and then I attach the window do the wall. But when I'm gonna erase the polygon inside the window it selects the whole side of the wall instead of just a little square in the window... I'm terrible to explain things so I hope you understand.
No it's max 2008.
Are smoothing groups when you select a object and selects all polygons and scroll down to auto smooth (i think) and press the button? UVW maps I don't know what it is.
Thanks anyway Insanto!
