Post Topic: New concept weapon Posted 30.04.2011, 09:32 |
hey guys
here's a new concept weapon i have been messing with :)
a 9mm/45 in one so a really original name like 9-45 comes to mind lol
The idea is: 30 x 9mm rounds and like 10 x 45 rounds the front mag has a rubber "grip" attachment for handling there's 2 hammers at the back for the 9mm...selection can go from semi-auto to auto for the 45, just single shot so..sort of in between a rifle and a machine pistol
the torch attachment could be exchanged for a lazer sight or u could mount one on the top rail would think its good for urban indoor warfare..in tight spaces?
dp and triz is less than the scare so should be ok in game
look forward to your comments and ideas on how to improve it :)

Especially the textures look great, but 9 mm and .45 calibers are too close together imo, and magazine as a grip does not look like a sturdy solution. As alternative caliber there could be a shotgun round or other heavy duty ammo, maybe even a mini grenade.

Switchable single trigger would be good also;)...Mag grip may be better placed on the upper "mag well"?

Quote by D_wolf: Awesome Concept :D Love that Grip-mag :) :) me too thanks for the comments and feedback guys i like Talvi's shotgun idea...the shell size diff makes a lot of sense :) i had a single trigger with a slide selection on the side..not sure how to get 2 triggers in there ;) i tried moving the grip upwards..not sure if it works tho Bull.. unless the bottom bit is re-shaped? @mr geo...i was hoping that when this is finished someone would offer to unwrap it and texture it properly instead of using the crysis textures ;) please let me know what u think of the changes thanks

That weapon would sooner kill the operator than the dude it's pointed at, but it's an interesting concept. :P I would definitely go for something like a rifle caliber and then shotgun or grenade shells for the second mag.
Model in-game looks really nice, btw. :)

NICE!!!! And all of you people with comments on realism, just wait a second while I go to my closet and pull out my handheld tactical nuke cannon (TACGun), it's a science fiction game.

It looks nice, but is a bit impractical. The problem with combination weapons is that they're trying to do two often different things at the same time and not coming out best in any of them. Pistol sized pistol/shotgun combination weapons have been done before (among others the US civil war era Lemat) but tend to be heavy and poor to control (recoil). In such contraptions the shotgun tends to be single shot.
This would have more success as a carbine or rifle sized weapon. Carbine conversions of pistols, among them the M1911A1 (.45 ACP), exist and creating one with an underslung shotgun (or grenade launcher) doesn't seem totally impossible. Something like the M26 modular shotgun system might fit under it. Whatever underslung weapon is fit, it would be the secondary. A stock would be pretty much required for accuracy, but could be wire, folding or collapsing.
Keep it up!

thanks for the feedback eric dude :) seems u know heaps on this so thanks for the info m8! will have to see what to do with the shotgun option...
before i saw this though i had re-worked the .45 magazine, ejection port and mag grip to get them more in line with the shell size diff between a shotgun and a .45 also added more support to the mag/weapon casting where it joins
will have to re-think it

How about using tactical attachment/tranquilizer as secondary?
