I have a problem. I downloaded the tutorial files and there is no weapon.max file in the weapon folder. Is there supposed to be or am I supposed to use my own model?

I have a problem too...I have no clue how this can even be considered a tutorial. A tutorial is something to help educate us so that we can make our own...whatever, without relying on the tutorial itself. This did the complete opposite for me. I kept having to refer to this video even though it never seem to have gotten me anywhere. Here is my reason why this is not a tutorial and more of a "do what I do and then figure it out".

1. He never explained any of what he was doing or how it worked/effected the game engine. Meaning he never described what each node/dummy does (i.e. lever_main or lever_term....which I STILL have no clue what the do and exactly where they do), he just says to put them somewhere one your weapon.

2. When you are making a tutorial you do not say things things like "Ya, just put it right there" or "Right there should work just fine". He said things like this many of times. I am bring this up because when you say such things it gives the watcher/viewer the feeling of uncertainty. Meaning they have second thoughts about where to put a node or dummy and then they mess up that node position. And in the end...their model setup does not work and they may even give up. I also noticed that you are not sure yourself during a lot of the video (i.e. pausing, your voice sound unsure of curtain things, ect, ect). This further gives the viewer second thoughts about what they are supposed to do.

3. Be prepared and organized. During the whole video you sounded very...unorganized, like you had not planned on what to do or say during the video. Almost like you have done a little research and then just hopped on your PC and started recording without even rehearsing. This just make is hard for everyone who watches the video, meaning it is hard to understand what you are trying to tell us and in the end almost impossible to follow along.

4. AHHH!....THE CLICKING NOICE!....IT IS DRIVING ME INSANE! Ah...yes...the clicking noise. I know that people have spoken about this in this topic but, this honestly will drive anyone watching your video insane and make this want to punch their computer and then walk away. This is how I felt for the majority of the video. Message to everyone who makes a video tutorial...NEVER use the mouse clicking noise.

I wrote this post not be rude or disrespectful...but to help the OP create better tutorials. This can also help other people is need be. Either way....we honestly need more weapon creation tutorials for the CE3. I can find really nothing on the CE3 Development Documents on Crydev.net and even less elsewhere on the net. Please...some make a tutorial to help us all.

Thank you

Hey buddy listen...Thanks for the advice but let me clarify you a couple of things....
This was actually my first tutorial and I caught a nasty cold back then(also had a different voice).
The clicking noise was something default for Camtasia, the recorder I was using...I didn't notice it because I had uploaded right after I recorded it and then went to somebody so I haven't had actually time to review it before publishing it.
The naming of the parts is just basic, like a pistol or a machine gun would have it's parts."Put that there" ,I don't know maybe because that's where it's like in real life too...That's not quite actually about CE3, more of the naming of the weapons parts. Also just some of the parts are able to be animated, some are just dummies for weapon parts.

I have not been active, because I've been busy with school. Now this summer I hope just to stick my nose into CryEngine 3 and programming.

I am thinking of redoing the whole tutorial, this time with a better quality no mouse click sound and more explanations and also a PDF version just to be 100% clarified. In one or two weeks something like that...I'm just finishing my semester.

Cheers,I hope that clarified most of it.

Me, myself and the next door hopefully bright future!

I see. Well, if you know more about getting a weapon into CE3 now then you did back then. I have started a forum looking for help. You can find it here:
http://www.crydev.net/viewtopic.php?f=315&t=92351&p=993581

Also...If you need advise with creating a good tutorial, feel free to ask me. I have worked with video production and understand what makes a good video and what makes a bad one. Just as a good first piece of advise. Never under any circumstance upload a video without first viewing it and looking for mistakes with the said video.

I would pay to see a new tutorial! I managed to get the weapon in the editor, but in the video you never really explained the animation part. Thank you so much for your tutorial and I would love it if you could help me out !
