Glad you think so. That's what I'm going for. Pure Sci-Fi paradise.

Looks awesome i think the glowing grass might be a bit too light though I think a darker glowing green would look better. Edit: just watched 2nd video and OMG amazing i love the fish, butterflys and birds! I do think that the crabs look like lobsters though when they are all red and orange like that lol. perhaps a different color? This is going to look beautiful when its finished at night it will look a bit like avatar Just found this maybe you might get some ideas from it: AVATAR

It's all experimentation at this point, so the color, brightness, etc. is all subject to change.
Everything I've done so far has been in the material editor. Just wait until I get some custom textures on these plants and animals. That should make them look really alien and exotic.
How could he name his map Avatar and claim a copyright over it? I understand he owns the map, but James Cameron owns the name Avatar.

Hi Chrome! Wow impressive work all around. May I ask where you draw this inspiration from? Is there any chance that it's Avatar?

Lots, and lots, and lots of sci-fi art. Avatar is in there somewhere (helps make the bioluminescence pretty), but there is so much more I draw from pictures. Two nice examples: Tropical PlanetscapeWaterfallI've looked through hundreds of space paintings, sci-fi, planetscapes, etc. It all gets mixed up in my head and this map is what makes it back out. Thanks for the comments.

Looking great, man. How are you doing those glowing flowers and animals? Changing their textures? Anyway, you should make an Avatar like map.

I find space a very interesting place for antiquity. I mean, you could make anything up and finding it a few billion light years away from Earth makes it feel more and more interesting, yet very entertaining.
Good luck with your map, hopefully everything goes well.
Hmm, where did my signature go...?

hey chrome, lookin good. is the glowing affect even at the daytime? cause i think that wouldn't be so good. and i would slightly reduce the glow amount, bc its hard to see the rest of the environment. other than that its nice.
greetings gametime

Thanks Vulture, Sahdev, and Gametime! @ Gametime. I'm only putting the glowing stuff in areas you will be in at night. Since they should react to the daylight, or lack of it. It's all done in the material editor. I've started messing around with custom textures, but those aren't ready to be shown yet. I already did an Avatar themed map, I just never released it. It's long gone now though. AvatarMy VersionI'm making this map completely original. I'm not trying to make it like any one movie, game, etc.

If I can do everything I want to, this should surpass any Avatar themed map that I could make.
It's going to include everything you would see in an Avatar map, plus more.

Hey everyone! I'm preparing to reveal the next area of the map. I'll be showing (in a video) the bioluminescent night sections.
I've settled on a visual theme for the bioluminescent plants. I think I've made them fairly unique. It's certainly something I've never seen before. Even the work in progress (which is missing tons of vegetation) looks amazing with the new materials and lighting. I think you will be pleasantly surprised by what I've done.
Keep an eye out for a video.

A new video is up. You can check it out here. Instead of the "oooo...that's pretty" blue/purple approach, I've chosen to go with much more fiery theme. The contrast is just beautiful and it really brings the night to life. I'm going to continue adding other plants with variations in them to mix it up. Stick around, more updates soon. Edit: I would also like to mention that, although you can't really see it well in the video, the falling leaves do give off light.
