Awesome work BlackFire and Maldo! :D

These mods are great, there are just a few things I would like to mention.

- The loading times are insane. (not sure if anything can be done about this or simply a better rig is required)
- The game tends to crash more often now and like someone mentioned the Lab Rat mission is now broken.
- I would like the now extreme contrast values to be brought down just a little, right now it looks like you have dynamic contrast enabled on an uncalibrated TV set.
- I kind of miss the yellow lightning/mist that was present in Crysis 2 Vanilla during some levels.
- Now that you have changed armor mode back to red (much appreciated!) and would also just love it, LOVE IT! if you could also change so that the aliens are once again blue.

Keep up the good work! :D

I think a lot of you are being a bit too harsh. I like the exaggerated contrast and shadows, however it can get absurd on certain levels, like the screenshot I posted previously. Imo fake or exaggerated things look better then realisim, real life is boring sometimes. I also enjoy the new ToD, it's something different. It could use work, but it provides for a slightly different experience if you just want to mess around in campaign. The red armor mode is a plus too.

As for textures, they're great, although most of them are MaLDo's work. My biggest problem is the number of bugs I'm experiencing with them. It just bugs me a lot (lol pun), if that was to get resolved I would love this mod even more.

If you use this mod can you still use your old saves if you disable the mod? Or should you back them up? Like they are named differently with this mod? I wanna make sure before I start playing this as I don't wanna have to repeat my process all over again on the stock side of Crysis 2. I have yet to beat the game in DX11 lol. So I would like to switch back and forth as a comparison.
Yes, when you disable the mod, you can use the old save games before the mod, the only thing that you can’t do is to use a save game created before the installation of the mod, with the mod enabled.

However, even with the mod enabled, you don’t need necessarily to start a whole new game; you can load a mission trough the Replay Mission

Beyond that, this looks great. Is there a way to tweak these things to individual tastes? Thanks for the hard work you and maldo put into all of this.

Unfortunately, only in the editor, you can try to decrease the brightness of your monitor if you think it's too brighty.

I agree that at some stage that are too brighty, but the mod becomes ugly if I soften it.

I've been playing and found that the fourth level, FDR, it's really brighty, I'll try to give an improvement.

About the trees, I believe they will continue that way, because there isn't a specific item in the editor to change it, it's just the way they look when the sun hits them.

When maldo releases an update, can we simply install it over everything else, or will we have to start from scratch. How will this be handled?
Yes, but you will need to install it inside the folder of my mod instead of the Maldo.

I would probably create an installer with the MaLDo' updated version of, when he does.

Found some more problems with the textures:

http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/56091 ... 620BC54CE/
http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/56091 ... AFE053B7A/

This is all at the very beginning of the Downtown.cry map (and no I'm not using the Steam version, I ran my retail copy as a non-Steam game). It's like that regardless of API.

Thank you, I'll fix that on the next update.

The mod is pretty amazing but I have a big problem:

It seems that chapter Lab Rat is broken with this mod.
For information, I started a new game with the mod from the beginning on the hardest difficulty, then at this part where you have to destroy the computer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3F_Ru7eLiVk
the game crashed every time I shot the computer (also there was no blue operation goal dot on the computer).
So I restarted from the previous chapter (road rage), and cleared my way throught again.
This time the blue operation goal dot appeared correctly on the computer, I destroyed it. The helicopter appeared afterwards the enemys on the elevator and rooftop appeared, in the middle of the fight after the second or third helicopter I died somewhere. So the checkpoint automatically loaded and now when I shoot the first helicopter the script won't continue (no enemys are coming from the elevator, no other helicopter is coming, no enemys from the rooftop are coming).

I hope this gets fixed because I really like the graphical adjustments from this mod.

Sorry if my english is somewhat hard to read.
All right. This map always give me problems.I'lltry to fix it.

Thank you for the info.

I'll use some of your comparison shots to better illustrate what I mean about contrast and mist.

http://i.imgur.com/QeYDU.gif
There for example, in the vanilla shot there is this mist which enforces the "invasion feel" which I like, without it things look to, um... happy? Also in the modded screenshot because of the extreme contrast it appears the alien is glowing because of just how bright it is and also detail on the ground is lost.

http://i.imgur.com/ZFHDT.gif
http://i.imgur.com/JWIfL.gif
Some more pics of the mist effect which I find to missing in this mod.

http://i.imgur.com/HMAtz.gif
Another example of the high contrast, look at the tower with the red spear and look how outlined it has become now with the mod enabled.

On another note the ending cutscene of the Dead Man Walking mission is now really buggy.

As I mentioned before though keep up the good work! This mod is showing some extreme promise. :D

Thanks for all the hard work on this mod, its pretty nice so far. I know its still version 1, so i don't expect it to be bug free but i thought id show some problems i came across.

Basically what's happening in the gif below is when you walk in whatever direction, the edge of the shadow will follow you. I've seen this before when i set my autoexec cvars too high, i think the cvar was e_ShadowsResScale(?) but i can't remember.
Image

I'm also seeing similar things happening with lighting. (notice the wall on the left)

I just discovered that the problem of black textures came from MaLDo HD Texture Pack.

I'm preparing an update that restores only those textures back to what they were originally.
It is preferable a low quality texture than a black square, right?

I'm also changing the excessive contrast of many levels. And I'll se if I can fix the Lab Rat level.

I'm counting on your feedbacks after I release the update to see if all bug were fixed.

Stay tuned.

Does anyone know how to fix it? I have no idea.
I'll try to find out.
Probably if I change the tod, should fix.

Good to hear Blackfire, and yes I'd prefer low quality textures over black squares. I noticed the shadows moving a bit too, but it wasn't as bad as the gif shows. I'm glad textures are getting resolved, that's what irked me the most.

As for contrast, it didn't bother me too much but it could use some lighting up. Stuff like this:

and this: http://i.imgur.com/QeYDU.gif

really need to be addressed. Good luck to you, and lets hope it comes out perfect.

Yeah, It's good that you show me where I can improve, 'cause then I know exactly what to change.

Update:

A very important update that I just did.
Makes the lighting in various levels much less clear and the shadows less darker so allows a better viewing indoors.

It also fixes the black square texture bug.

Fixed level Lab Rat.

Blackfire's Mod 2 1.0 Fix
http://www.4shared.com/file/RtybtEoA/BlackFire-s_Mod_2_Fixed_-_04-0.html (3.8 MB)

Note: Only install this fix if you have already installed version 1.0 of the mod, otherwise download the version of the 1st page that comes with this fix included.
. Use the Replay Mission to load the maps for the 1st time.

There is an updated version at the 1st page that comes with all the fixes included.

Test, see if you like, and tell me if it still have bugs to be fixed.

Sorry for not having released an update with comparisons, I'm kinda out of free time.

Nice to see it come out so soon. I just downloaded it, but it's really late here. I'll try it out tomorrow and report back.

The mod looks a lot better now after the fix, also the Lab Rat mission is working now. :D

Now just bring back the mist and also the yellow lightning when the sun is set low (all the daylight lightning being white/blu-ish looks a bit cold and repetitive) and I'll be happy... for now. xP

I don't know if this is happening to others, but in levels Semper Fi or Die and Out of the Ashes the sky looks pretty bad. The rest of the mod is absolutely amazing, but when I see the blurry, nasty, ugliness of the sky it kinda kills it.

If screenshots are needed I'll try to post some later.

REALLY EXCELLENT MOD !!!!

just 1 question.

Is it just me or do al the settings from high to Ultra have no influence when playing with this mod ?

For example on the "Power Out" level even in the lowest setting (high in patch 1.9) all the (contact)shadows and reflections(the wet street , shiny truck/cars) are there with this BF2 mod , where as in vanilla Crysis 2 they were absent.
