 Post Topic: Graduation Project Borujerdiha-House
PostPosted 12.11.2012, 15:07
Hello everyone,

I am currently working on my graduation project. This is my first project in the Cryengine3 and I learn something new everyday. My project is to recreating a building in Kashan, Iran named the Borujerdi courtyard house. It is a unique and traditional residental house that makes use of clever architecture to make a comfortable living. It uses the natural air ventilation to cool. This is done by the windcatchtowers (bashir's) and the impressive roofwork. The idea is to eventually have a complete realtime architectural visualisation of this building were the viewer can learn about the building and experience it.

I would love to hear your opinion on it and receive constructive feedback and maybe tips or tricks to improve on the overall quality.

I have made a video a little while back that I used to show my process of the project to teachers and students. Here a link to the video. There are some artifacts that I am not sure how to fix. The dissappearing shadows when it has a certain distance. Flickering of the clouds, and the self-shadow of the pillars in the colonnade which is too bright and looks unnatural.

And some screenshot of the current state of my project.

In my opinion honestly its pretty good but somehow the textures are not so attractive on some places like roofs, ground/terrain and floors. Try adding some decals and texture variations.

For sure ain't anything "wow performance" in there, mate. I get ~60 FPS in such figures, V-high and DX11 with tessellation enabled.

Also, looks good. I agree with Axel, you should aim for some more attractive textures and detailing.

Thanks! Yes the textures still need alot of work. Load of textures are fill-ins so you get the idea which material it is suppose to be getting. I will look into the decals. That will probably help alot to get rid of some of the texture repetition.

I got a pretty old system. Think about 2 to 3 years old. But when I bought it was quite high standard. I am suprised it can run this project to be honest. Not disappointed at all.

Congratulations, it looks fantastic.
Just one suggestion: get rid of the DOF. The blurred backgrounds in the long distance shots look completely unrealistic.
But apart from that, it looks superb!
Regards,
Chris

Ultra high quality architecture both modeling and texturing wise.

Looks so professional and interesting, I could see it being a piece from Assassin's Creed with Ezio climbing all over it xP Good job
