I haven't tried it yet.
My computer doesn't have much free hard disk space at the moment, so I have to wait until I have an external hard disk...

How many faces do you recommend for a rock?
Something like 2000-4000 faces?
10000-20000 faces?

I'd say few hundred faces for big rocks. Examining details of models in Free SDK asset browser would give an overview of triangle counts for different objects  ;)

It still surprises me how many Drawcalls and tris are in that map considering. something like 3500 at its highest.

I've created 12 totally new rocks and I've improved the texturing, I think they look much better than my previous rocks.

The texture still isn't very realistic, you need to vary it more. Add contrast, cracks and recesses to the texture, and make it tile larger. Look at these pictures for reference:
