I've neither modeled nor worked with the CryEngine in a long time so i thought I'd jump back into it and create a little environment. This thread is meant to document the progress and maybe attract someOne with texturing skills. - Blockout done, started the shaping of the railings
Comments and Criticism is welcome as always

whats the advantage of doing that brick by brick instead of just using POM texture?

Good grief!! Brick by brick!! lol.. Never seen anything quite like this before. I sure hope you don't expect that to be exportable or usable. hehe

nope these lotsa bricks are just the highpoly that i plan to bake in a later stage I'm not using an existing tileable POM texture because I'm making a texture out of them bricks
Altho it would be interesting to bake the highPoly bricks to lowPoly ones and export them as a jointed breakable setup lol

Yeah, it's is a lot of work and could be solved faster in multiple ways.. But I've spent the last months only coding tools to improve workflows and general productivity so in this project I wanna waste time and overkill on repetitive/wasteful tasks If in the end a good looking environment and free to use assets for the Crymunity are the result that's just a bonus for me

Gotta say it's quite relaxing to build a (digital) house brick by brick

The bricks would probably work just fine as a tiling texture, but if you're gonna unwrap everything uniquely, I guess that's the way to go. Just make sure the brick regions have some unique, interesting detail in them so the spent UV space won't go to waste!

I know that i could use a tiling brick-texture modified with vertexColors and overlayed with decals.. but there is a reason I'm building this "one" house the way i do that will become apparent at a later stage
One of the reasons you can guess if you like the CryEngine2 and red barrels.. Another one you can guess over time²
