No software is ever bug-free; that's the harsh reality of software development. We have to balance new features and bug fixes and when we ship an update as major as an entirely new D3D version, obviously a lot of the focus will be there.
That's not to say this won't get fixed, but most of the time you'll be editing materials whilst the material in question is displayed in the main viewport anyways so it's a lower priority than, say, the AMD crash
