UDK.
Care to explain why?
Because computing lightmaps for 30 minutes after every change in the map is fun.
I set up a dynamic cycle in like 30 minutes, it's actually easy because all you do is rotate the sun entity hook it up in matinee then run a script with Kismet. (Don't forget to bake the lightmaps) then all you do is run the game and watch it work

Again I apologise for recent inactivity. Very busy, but this game isn't dead. I've been playing a lot of DayZ recently, that mod is pretty much exactly how I imagined this game (kind of annoying how they created it first )
UDK or Cryengine 3? It's down to personal preference imo. They both have their pros and cons. Personally I prefer CE3 for the more open world scenarios, UDK for corridor shooters or smallish/linear terrains.

Jeez all of Vancouver getting destroyed but you know, the game engine is limited just like the level size in All Points Bulletin.
You know that's all background eyecandy, right? They didn't literally build all of Vancouver, and gameplay wise it's as linear of a corridor as one gets.

Love your idea.
Also I'd had on the Cry vs UDK argument that they both are very good engine, the thing is UDK is used way more widely so that's why there are a lot more tutorials, examples and games being released on it. Also UDK handles iOS and Android.
I really love Cryengine for the big environments and details to the vegetation, it's only huge downside to me currently is the very small amount of documentation available, mainly speaking here about the programming side of things. I found maybe 2-3 videos that explain things related to the code and a few articles here and there. The Crydev site has some infos but it's very brief, not comparable with the huge articles available in the UDN.
I hope that Crytek will invest some money in this aspect.
