The Atlantis Project | Update
So it's with a heavy heart that we have decided to put The Atlantis Project on the shelf simply due to lack of time. With all our current real life schedules we cannot put our soul and heart into the projects development anymore.
The game is not cancelled but will be put on a shelf until things can be sorted out. Real life does come first, we all have lives, kids, jobs etc ...
We may or may not start working on a smaller project in time. Something that will be easier to realize with our current schedules. The Atlantis Project have just proven to be too much of a big task for us with our current small team.
Thanks to everyone who believed in us ...

The Story of Atlantis Long ago, in ancient times there was a race called the Atlanteans. Vast in riches and culture they thrived for millenia. A stricht hieracry society strecthing for miles and miles. Thruout history mankind has searched for ages for this mysterious city with little or no success.
It was under an earthquake in Northern Norway that a team of Volcanologists and Scientists was dispatched to surveillance this activity. The perma frost ice around a certain area had also started to melt. The team searched for clues if it was connected to the recent earthquake.
After an aftershock a few team members falls into a cavern deep underground thus trapping themselfes below surface. Area seems moist and warm with running water and melted ice. The cave entrance collapses due to the unstable nature of the cave systems. There is no way out. They have no choice but to press on inside the cave to see where it leads.
What they are about to find out will change the history of mankind forever.
The Characters of Atlantis - Avani (Ava) For our first character update we would like to present Avani (Ava for short), the main female character throughout the course of Atlantis. Sculpted in ZBrush and finalized in 3DS Max, she counts in at roughly 7000 polys. The model was done by Alexander Ignatenko.
Ava is a highly skilled volcanologist and she constantly seeks to explore all the dormant and active volcanos around the world. This also gets her into trouble every single time.
The Concepts Concept drawings are a big part of game development as it drives development in the right direction. It opens up for discussions on where to go and what to include in areas thruout the game. Every game needs some concept art, we hired Zhu Yan from Shanghai, China for this job. Results are shown below. View his website at http://iam10yen.cghub.com
Shown below is an early concept layout of the pit. We experimented with ways of trapping the player inside and showing the main character the way into the cave systems.
These last 3 concepts are made by Rikke Fjeld Hansen
The Assets (WIP) Atlantis will feature a lot of different types of rocks developed by various artists involved with the project. Becouse lets face it, you can never have enough rocks in a game, am i right? Below you can see a few clusters of rock assets being used thruout the game. They are used to create caves (along with voxels) and to populate the landscape surroundings in Atlantis.
Vegetation is also a very important part of the gameplay, as it adds ambience and volume to the game. In the image below we have gathered a small amount of all the Vegetation Assets you can find in Atlantis.
Buildings or building blocks are also needed for depth and scenery. Below is a small selection of blocks in use. We are not showing the main City of Atlantis yet, simply due to the unfinished state of the project.
Atlantis features it's own Aquarium called Babel, below in a screenshot and a short video showing off the environments we have so far, scene is still WIP.
The Sounds and Music of Atlantis
Creating the sounds and music is an ongoing project which involves field work recordings and lots of studio time. We often pack our bags and head out into mother nature and record anything relevant to the game, this process is often repeated when the seasons change as Atlantis will feature both winter and summer times.
All Sound Designers know that every little detail in normal life makes some form of sound, however getting this to fit into a game is a big task and requires lots of work. Cropping each sound that has been recorded, finding out that perhaps it would sound better with an underlying layer effect like thunder, he or she quickly runs back to the preferred Sound Editing software and makes the changes. This is repeated thousands of times during the game development cycle.
Atlantis will also feature professional voiceovers for all the characters involved. This involves even more studio time as voiceovers might need to be re-recorded several times over to get the perfect voice for the character.
To be blunt, a Sound Designers job is never finished.

Thanks man. We decided to keep this first update mostly about the assets. We will bring in much more gameplay videos, story and showcases down the road.
We need to see what the next SDK update holds in store for us first.
Lavizh was one of the greatest ever Uber Modders on these forums his work on CryEngine 2 was amazing. He has now decided to join the Media crew but that has not stopped him from totally amazing me today. Just today he announced Atlantis a type of MMO RPG. Lavizh is going big as he always is and intends to go for a CryEngine 3 license with his studio Vascotia Studios. I have been wowed and amazed and i cannot wait until Lavizh launches this game.
I think we should give it up for Lavizh Awesome Work man!!!

Perhaps i should mention that this is a team project. I am not the only one working on this you know. We decided to do a team presentation in the next update.
Note : This is NOT an MMO / RPG. It's an adventure based puzzle/riddle game. Singleplayer.
