Post Topic: Some New Site Updates Posted 30.04.2013, 12:21 |
Hey all, We've just rolled out a couple of new features/adjustments to the site that you might like to check out! Forum Reputation / Post LikesWe wanted to give the community a way to show appreciation to other members for their input so now you have the ability to "Like" a user's post. The number of likes for a post is reflected in the post (currently next to avatar but will be moved into post) and the total likes that person has received forum-wide is available to view inside their profile (will be moved next to their avatar). So go ahead and show your appreciation to other members Browser Tab InfoYou'll notice the tabs for your browser window only display important information, such as topic titles for forum threads, article titles for news, which section you're in, etc. This should make it easier to browse when using multiple tabs and needing the important information first. News ArchiveThe "Popular News" section has been removed in favor for a News Archive. This gives you quick access, month-by-month to the CryDev news articles. Soon we'll also be adding a search function. News Views/RepliesAlso on the Newspage, you can now see view counts and replies made on each article to see which articles are the most popular and join in or ignite discussion on the content. Please note that this number is a new tally so older articles may show low view counts but does not necessarily represent that actual views made on that article. Hope you like the new features and if you have any suggestions on what you'd like to see on CryDev.net next, let us know below
No dev/modding PM's please, use the forums! :)

Hi adam, yeah nice one. Yet for browsing forums i'd still prefer to remove the View Forum prefix as well. Just my humble opinion on that thanks, oliver

Quote by Blue: Hm, a Download section, like in the old forum... The downloads area was incorporated into the projects section when Crymod was migrated. So each mod can have its own Project page. Go to project_db.php?action=projects then sort through the various projects, you have the option to filter from assets to full blown mods. Pretty simples

So i see i.e. "View forum - Programming & Scripting" for viewforum.php?f=314. Shouldn't be a cache issue as it did changed but not like expected. Also same results for IE and firefox.

Is it how it is or is it wrong atm?
1. Is it supposed to show how much likes does a post have 2. or how much likes in overall a person has? Because the "Likes:" is on the left side under the avatar makes me feel it means #2.

With likes life becomes more funny but from the other hand "likes" will be sticked mostly for funny posts than to helpful ones, aren't they? Likes mostly amuse self-esteem and since now participation in discussion may be sometimes derailed into likes' pursuit.

Thanks for the change...also the like per post display makes way more sense than per user. Also thanks for that (Yet being able to like my own posts is kinda, well, unusual...)

Hahah, the 'likes' system here is exactly as I described it could be last year, where you can like a post and it shows up on their profile: viewtopic.php?p=1004049#p1004049
