Why are people still having problems with "exporting the game" ?

It's all explained here : viewtopic.php?f=355&t=80919

File | Export to Engine inside the editor, then run BIN64 (or 32) / Launcher.EXE from explorer. Problem solved. Now your game will run :)

You can always create a batch file in the root folder to start the launcher. Or make your own config util to configure the game then execute the launcher (naturally this requires some programming skills, but it's very easy).

If you want to have it installed, just use NSIS / InnoSetup to build an installer. I really don't know why it's so hard to believe that there won't be a way to export the game because the game can't know if there are things spawned via code in the level.

I'll just dump this NSIS script I did a while ago here:
http://pastebin.com/8Ci1s11a

It should be ready to be used on a dev enviroment and will only pick out the files that are game vital. I did some tests some time ago and iirc I managed to get our latest revision of the now cancelled project "The Increment" down to around 700mb.

NSIS Script looks so hard!

Yeah it looks quite hard and unclear at first but in the end you will find it amazing how "easy" it can make things ;)

Hi everyone !

If I have all understand, if I make a game, i can't export it to an .exe ?

It means that any player can install and play the game without installing CryEngine3SDK and launch the game by the launcher.exe ?

I am maybe wrong .... rectify me if it's the case.

It's a pity ... and if i get UDK can i export my game to .exe ?

Or what are the solution or the engine I can use to export my game like a "real" game as we found in commerce.

Thanks in advance, cause I have the project to create an association in my school of computing ( create a studio association ) and exporting the game in .exe is very important for me.

So thanks for response.

What's the difference between exporting your game to an .exe and your end user using the Launcher.exe (which you can rename if you want a different name)? You'll need to distribute the game files to the user anyway. There's no need for the user to "install CryEngine3SDK" since you can simply include all necessary engine files with your game installation.

The only problem with the current SDK is that the user is required to enter CryDev login details in order to play the game. This should really be removed, there's no point in requiring gamers to register on a developer site. Maybe when we get some more information about the indie licensing terms...

I'm sure Crytek will remove the login on the Launcher side (it's naturally not there for commercial licensees) for free games based on the FreeSDK. Otherwise the entire point for the game is gone. You can't require the end user to register on CryDev in order to play a free game. As the_grim pointed out we need to wait some more time for the terms and conditions on the indie license to be announced.

As for the executable the_grim made it perfectly clear already ;-)
Just rename the executable to your desired name.

Ho ok, it's perfectly clear now !

So if all the players register on crydev, they can play the game. If not, they cannot ..

Effectively, this is a problem ... but some games require a register, so it's not an only case

Thanks a lot for your answers !

have a good day and maybe you see a new nickname on forum in september " ExiaStudios ", if you see it, it's that the association is launched and our first project will be a very big project !
