Hi, i'm making a map, and i really need an accomplished flow grapher to do something for me...

It's a map where, if you go into the dark, you get attacked and killed. BUT, there are light sources you can create.

for example,

shoot a barrel - make a light
pick up a flare - you got a light.

what i need, is for area's where the light is created, they are made "safe-zones" where you can go to... but the dark around it still stays "attack zone" if you get me?

any help would be greatly appreciated... and full credit will go to them when the map is completed.

and then i'm sure we can win one of those prizes, i'm up for making the map THAT good.

I'm not able to do it, but if you do not find someone, if could be interesing to use that: Teleport to Object

maybe you can beam a save area to the light source.

Crysis doesn't have a fg node that detects light as far as i know.

Thanks for the fast replies guys.

but it doesnt need a light detecting node... i just need someone that is willing to make loads of areas with the area triggers, and activate and deactivate certain ones when carrying certain things

haha

quite hard to explain..
basically

Gears of War. where you have to stay in the light

thats what im tryna do... ?(

What you can do, is create a HUGE shape and link the hazard to it.
The shape has to be ALL OVER THE MAP, or atleast in the parts where you want him to die from darkness (You took it from GOW didn't you :rolleyes:)

Than, attatch a proximity trigger to everything that makes light, and enable it when you want. In this proximity trigger you have to do something that will make the player invincible, and not show him being attacked - I dont remmber how to achieve this, but I KNOW I did this, I did the same in CGC, only with pirana (however it's spelled) fishes, and a torch :P

I can't help you alot right now, as I'm too busy thinking on a logo for my level, sorry.

But there's one thing I know - It would be a bit tricky with the "safe" zones.

Wait a sec..I've got an idea ! :D
Instead of making a huge FG to protect the player while in the safe zones,
with all the proximity triggers make it so when the player is inside it, it will disable the hazard, and when he leaves it - It enables it back again !

Yep, this is how I did it ! ;)

erm, i tried that, in many different ways

and i could'nt get it to work...

i think it's just a case of fiddling with the nodes X(

all the ones i posted above... either, nothing happens, OR, i get one or the other, i die whenever i go in the area, irrespective of whether im in the prox trigger or not, or, i get my full health from the prox trigger, but when i leave the prox trigger, and into the "Attack zone" trigger

Hey man, I made this real quick. Basically, you constantly recieve damage unless you are in the light. The flowgraph is contained in the hazard area fyi. Let me know what tweaks i can do or questions you have :)

Installation guide:

  1. Load the downloaded file where ever you can find it quickly.
  2. Start the editor and you level.
  3. Go to Modify -> Load Objects -> then go to the folder you have downloaded -> open the folder and pick the downloaded file.
