Post Topic: Ghost of a Tale Posted 21.09.2008, 08:46 |
Update: 16 May 2010Someone asked to see some animation a while back, so here is a simple walk cycle done mostly to test attachments with MayaCGF. And, well... so far it seems to be working. :) (Sorry about the post-stamp size, I don't know how to change the settings on this forum. The video is actually 720p on YouTube) Update: 24 April 2010The first pic is a very early WIP of the cell where you start (an obvious nod to the Elder Scrolls games). Note that the set dressing is far from done. What you can't see on the picture is the smoke slowly billowing from the torch, the flickering light, and the mood-setting sound of dripping water echoing against the walls... For this mod, I'm aiming at going back to the feeling of older games like Dungeon Master, and similar adventure games from the 80s and 90s, as well as the old Penguin Books "Choose you own adventure" series, at the onset of RPGs. The next picture is a new glimpse at the "Undead Army of the Rat". It's still a WIP, but I have to say, animating those guys is great fun. In game, they're almost 2 meters tall and when they hulk towards you with their rusted scimitars drawn out, it is quite a sight. :) The last picture is really old and features woefully outdated models and textures. But it helps in getting a feel for the mod, so I'll leave it up for now... As always, stay tuned... but don't hold your breath! :) Seith Related Links:Seith's Little IslandAtreyu model

Thank you all for the warm welcome back! Here are a few technical details: - They're definitely running a custom rig in Maya. Now the real challenge will be to successfully export that into Crysis. Still waiting for the new compiler from Crytek! - Textures are place-holders. The materials are simply made up of bits and pieces of existing Crysis textures mixed together in "strange" ways (mattress, alien spikes, hillside cafe, etc...). Which is actually a great way to quickly prototype stuff. - In terms of geometry density they're really on the low-res side. An average Crysis nanosuit+attachment is a bit less than 18k polys, while they are a bit above 13k. So plenty of room to refine and optimize things. (I have to say looking at the screenshot that they are in the shadows here, and that really does not flatter the textures/materials at all...)

That are great news. I liked wandering on you little (little) island and have a picnic sometimes. It has a great atmosphere. So i really look forward to explore your upcoming creation.
