A few months ago we started a Christmas Level Design contest on Crymod, with the aim to see if we could get some of you amazing talented level designers to Crytek to help build future Crytek games. We received some fantastic entries from 15 level designers from around the world and had a lot of fun playing through each of the maps. Read on below to see what we thought!

Competition Status
First off, it’s worth me providing some context to the contest. Before the competition commenced, the team I was part of was working on an unannounced project, and was in need of more level designers to fill the gaps. However, when we returned in the new year, this smaller team was moved onto working on Crysis 2, therefore meaning that we no longer needed the extra level designers. Despite this, we wanted to continue the contest, play through, and give feedback to those who’d spent time creating levels for the contest. Suffice to say those of you who had very good entries are “on the booksâ€

But yeah in the end, for the moment, we don't have any open positions to interview for. However that will certainly change in the future

After May 5th I'll be able to join any contests of this kind! Can't wait for an opportunity to present itself. Sam, you don't have a timeframe, do you?

Unfortunately not... probably after Crysis 2 ships we'll have some spots available (and no, I don't know when that is lol).

Those are some pretty great maps, loved devils tower though, was great fun and had a unique flavour.

It's a pity that no one got the internship at the end, but I guess as long as these guys keep making good looking maps, they can easily get better and better experience from it.

Nevertheless, Ghibli, Nerv3 and 3rdhalf, congratulations!

Yay! Finally the announcement.

darn you.. i still got a bit less than a year left until i get to do stuff like this... and then i gotta go to the army lol... so there go my chances anyway

and congrats to all the winners. I played devils tower a bit, but for some reason the AI were invincible except for headshots (maybe cuz i was playing in the wars engine) so i stopped playing lol.

too bad nobody got the interview in the end. I was actually expecting something like this to happen since the judging took so long.

Haha, like Sam said it'll probably be a while until chances like this appear again anyway, so no worries I'd say.

Also, my chances of winning such a contest would probably be pretty slim, too, so there's no need to be jealous lol.
