Not quite sure where this belongs so thought id ask on this page.
Does anyone know if cryengine 3 will be in anyway backwards compatible with stuff made in cry-engine 2 sdks (wars or original) ? Except for sum missing textures and objects obviously.
That or would it be possible to strip a terrain out of cry-engine 2 and the put it into either the crysis 2 map creator (thingy)/cryengine 3.

P.S. would it be worth starting a thread don't want to go off topic?

Yes, it is possible to import objects to the new Engine. It's basically the same, however expect some problems (maybe).

Depending on the object, the engine may warn that it's exported using the old resource compiler, and won't open the model. The best solution would be to re-export everything using the new exporters when they're available.

Thanks guys I'll wait for it then shouldn't be long now. I would half expect an announcement either this week or the next after the 1.9 patch and high res pack are released for crysis 2.

http://crytek.com/news/crysis-2-ultra-u ... day-for-pcIts a good week, completely sorted for me, I won't be leaving the house for the the next fortnight for sure. Was not expecting it out in just two days, going to enjoy moving thing over to it, and messing with it all.

This is a pretty amazing week. DX11 and the editor. I'm assuming we can mess with all the DX11 features in the editor? I'd like to see someone write a big script that re-exports and converts all the necessary files so the Crysis and Warhead campaigns would be mods for Crysis 2. But a project of that magnitude...prolly too much to ask

I have a question...will the cryengine SDK be able to generate or have some form of wetmaps and also vertex painting meaning not with blowing foliage but revealing dirt on brick walls, or moss on stones without having to put decals on or paint it on in a program creating a texture map for it? Also will the coding be fully explainable and the code properly commented and of course have proper tutorials to follow easily from start to end?
