Single Solid, Hollowed out Box with the dimensions 14m X 10m X 4m To create 1: Create 1 single solid box with the maximum dimensions: 14m (length), 10m (width), 4m (height). Copy the same solid (Ctrl+C) and place that copy on the exact same coordinates. Select the copied solid and scale it down manually. Be sure to take the lock of on the right of the scale factors. In my case i used walls that are 20cm thick. So my scale size for the copied solid was: Now press "Reset Xform" on the right side in the solid tab. Now select the first Solid (solid 1) and hold Ctrl and select the second solid (solid 2) Now press "Difference" on the right side in the solid tab. End Result is a room that has outer walls that are exactly 14m (length), 10m (width), 4m (height). with on the inside -20cm on each side with the wall thickness.

Quote by Cry-Adam: Quote: So as long as the room size is correct we can populate the entire thing with custom geometry both on the inside and outside as well? In that case: can we replace the solids with custom geometry with the same dimensions? We need to be able to see the dimensions of the room to be sure it's within the specified size and i'm not sure that's possible if you use custom geometry objects? And of course you're welcome to join! I was thinking of adding the solid, walls as an extra layer where you can easily check the rooms dimensions. Custom geometry and textures are ok then? @Duruk: the dimensions given are inner dimensions, looking at the first posts pic.

Hmm... the rule is super simple.
Make the room!! But maximum size is 14x10x4.

Thansk a lot Duruk for the tutorial it was so easy and simple, but there's a mistake at "Now select the first Solid (solid 1) and hold Ctrl+C and sele.." should be "Ctrl" only not "ctrl+c". Thanks again

Do we have to keep the room as a rectangle, like could i add solids to the corners to create a octagon. But of course keeping the same dimensions.

You should change the naming convention to the new board.
Currently it is: Forum › Community › CryDev Challenges › Competitions › Thread Title
It should be: Forum › Community › CryDev Challenges › Think Inside & Outside The Box (Current Challenge) › Thread Title
This will let you have good organization for CryDev Challenges as time goes by. Currently, it'll just be a mix and mash of all competition threads in one place as time goes by. Discussion of prior competitions may push current competition threads to the backburner as it is now.

I have made a room in correct dimensions made from solids. However no matter what I do sun light breaks through making very lit up. I have cast shadows on the solids and also tried making solids overlapping and also another cube around the room. I've chcked for solutions on forums but can't get it working Any tips on how to solve this? Thanks... (Btw, nice challenge!)
