Welcome to my thread. Here I will show the progress of my new unnamed zombie game. Please give feedback as it will help a lot!

Introduction
For years I have dreamed of a zombie survival game that takes survival seriously. I want to play a game where your actions have real consequences, not just fake scripted ones. I want it to be open world, full of zombies and most importantly realistic. You should make your own decisions from the start. You write your own story.

You're probably thinking minecraft survival with the realism? Well minecraft is a good source of inspiration. Mojang have thrown the player into a world with no story, no tools or weapons. Just you and your tree punching fists. This game should be like that but more. The world you are thrown into is a realistic hand crafted city with surrounding country side and towns. All the pre-built buildings should be explore-able, different and full of secrets. You also start empty handed. Your only option, like minecraft, is to go out and explore.

I've decided to make that game using Crytek's amazing CryENGINE®3. Why CryENGINE®3 and not UDK or Unity? Well because the CryENGINE®3 is perfectly suited for large-scale maps full of detail and interaction.

The Team
JasperHope (Jasper) - Environment Artist
dome113 (Thomas) - Programmer

Shot looking down at the map. It will be a lot bigger when more content is created.

Created the first drivable vehicle. A British ambulance. Covered in blood.

Adding a new housing estate, it will be massive.

Garden hopping? Shaun of the Dead style.

This is a supermarket. Currently unfinished like everything else! I'll add windows and interior items at some point. I just put the supermarket there to take a shot of it ingame. It will be in more realistic surroundings soon!
Image

This is a view from a garden of one of the houses. They're all fully enterable like I promised! I'm currently planning out the streets but soon I will create interiors for them!
Image

This is a night shot. I haven't adjusted the ToD yet so it might look better than this soon! I just wanted to show off the 24 hour day/night cycle to some friends!

I'm not using this map design anymore.

Just showing the models in-game. This doesn't represent what the end results will look like.

An old pub. Perfect for a safehouse. Make sure you board up those large windows. You wouldn't want a horde breaking in when you're asleep.
Image

All buildings are modeled and textured in SketchUp Pro. I find this is the best program for architectural oriented modeling.

That's all for now. I will update when more content is created. Thanks for reading.

It is set in the UK right? Judging by the architecture. I have always wanted to see another zombie game (Killing Floor being one) set here.
Looks and sounds good so far :)

It will be similar to Stalker, but I want the player to feel more immersed in the world. Thank you :)

Are you plan to make it as a coop multiplayer? Like Minecraft? :)

The map will be that big! I plan to work on The coast town first and release the game with blockades between the city and most of the country side. I'll then unlock parts of the map as updates. It might just grow over time :)

Currently the engine doesn't feature built-in multiplayer. But hopefully this will be added soon. Multiplayer coop would add so much to the game so it would be stupid not to add it if it were possible. I'd like to use it like Dead Island use it (the other players drop in and out beside the main player).

I saw this coming when you requested permission to view the old design doc for CZM. Oh well, as long as you don't use sterling and my ideas i'm fine with it, it'd be sad if you jack our ideas after screwing us over.

Are you both still working on that? I thought that old Crysis mod died months ago. I thought everyone was inactive, so I got on with other things, new job, new relationships etc.

This work will be based upon my own ideas. Any ideas from the old Crysis mod won't really be used. Some of my own ideas probably will be.

I didn't mean to request access! It was bookmarked and I clicked it a few days ago to see where it led. I think it sent the request automatically. All of my own design ideas are stored locally anyway :)

Nope, we're not working on it anymore, i kept the ideas though because i liked them and because of the sheer amount of hours me and sterling put in to them.

Cool, well that game was going off into a direction I hadn't originally intended, so I won't be using any of your ideas. I am determined to stick to all my original ideas and bring a realistic open world game where the player writes their own story, like minecraft.

This looks great.
I'd love to help, but I don't know if my skill level would suffice. I'm great with modelling assets, most prominently guns.
