Today I have a little game of spot the real-time for all you CryDev's! Below are some screenshots of sebastian___'s truly amazing short film shot in CryEngine 2. The project has been going for quite some time, with the original thread appearing way back in 2008!
The Movie Idea
Quote:
A couple of teenagers decide to go on a trip in their final days of summer holiday. But their innocent little trip turns into something else when they discover something terrifying, yet beautiful beyond words
Budgets
$237,000,000$0
Above are screenshots from CryEngine 2 of Sebastian's project and Avatar a multimillion dollar development by James Cameron and 20th Century Fox. Comparison of the two demonstrates the ability to render cinema quality wide angle scenes and environments within CryEngine. These scenes do not even take advatnage of the the new features in CryEngine 3 and the upcoming 'Sandbox for Cinema'.
A short clip of progress from 18 months ago
In Sebastians latest update he shows ground, canopy and shots of insects amongst others and I can honestly say if the production values in this project were turned into a fully fledged box office film I would have no problem paying money to see it. What do you guys think?
Totally awesome Sebastian___ ... goes to show how much the CryEngine 2 can really push out. Would be fun to see what you could do with CryCinema when it comes out? Perhaps it delivers some unique rendering techniques and camera movements.
That looks so good, I feel as if I could almost walk into those pictures and everything would seem real, everything seems to be really high res especially the mud and shrubs in the lst picture. Looks amazing!
Hey, I just saw this. Yay my pics on the news. And avatar comparison But my picture was just straight render, while the Avatar one had full film processing. Here is the same picture with some film color adjustment
Why has "LOST" been added to the title of this thread ?
the mod is already in production but I AM in need of help.
I have plenty of assets ready to go and already have a working smoke monster...
I even personnally PM'd sebastian about using some of these techniques in my mod.. only not to be contacted and find out this is now a "LOST" project ? are you kidding me ?
Also please note that the project has been called a "LOST-type" movie since the very first post in 2008.
Amazing job indeed sebastian___! Admittedly the Avatar pic has a more subtle indirect lighting in its ambience, but to be frank the Cryengine shots looks better artistically.
