Post Topic: Touch bending bug [SOLVED]
PostPosted 24.02.2012, 20:28
Hello
It's a example to Palm touch bending work:

In fact, I activated mode "p_draw_helpers" to make visible the proxy.
In fact, the proxy "dummy" disappear and the "bending touch" turns off by itself (when I stopped moving).
If anyone has a solution to my problem ...

what's the problem? Seems like it works, when you shoot the leafs, they deform or bend on impact.

You didn't walk through the trees in the video, so can't tell if there is a problem with character touch bending. Make sure you have both the proxy for bending AND proxy for ai, or problems might occur.

Also make sure the trunk and all the foliage is one object group as elements. seems to avoid problems.

If I stop my move, the proxy disappear (shown in video) and leaves no longer react when I shoot. I am forced to move slightly for the proxy respawn, then the leaves move when I shoot.

Architect, I put a layout file, could you look?

Follow this , it should clear things up.

http://freesdk.crydev.net/display/SDKDOC3/Touch+Bending

or download the sample assets file below (at the bottom of page). Included you will find the trees.max file. open that up and study it if reading ain't your kind of thing.

dm_eds/download_detail.php?id=4

Pay close attention to the material ID setup, and the schematic view link setup in max.

Did a few test, your right, the tree system seems to be optimized compared to crysis1.

First off the physics enable only if you enter the obstruction proxy. Other wise you can't even shoot the leafs from a distance.

Second once the physics are enabled, it's active for 5 seconds and then shuts down.
(unless you keep stimulating the system by firing (and hitting the rope system) or continuously moving through the leafs)

This is not bad for touch bending, probably saves unnecessary calculations, but for shooting the leafs you need to create a obstruction proxy at least the size of the first LOD radius, or you wont be able to activate physics and experience bending from shooting the leafs.

As for the 5 sec delay before physic's turn off, not bad for performance, But there should be a way to customize the duration of the delay? Or your right, it could be a bug.

Hopefully we can get some CryAdmin on this asap. And if it can't be figured after that, submit it under feedback section. they should fix it next update.

Thank you for taking the time and thought up my problem.
It is true that the physical deactivates after 5 sec on assets exported from 3dsmax.
By cons, the problem does not exist on the default of Crysis2 bushes, bending the touch run without problem on these items, even at a distance.
So I call for help.

Excellent find :P

Put the answer in large color coded text so everyone can quickly recognize it hehe

I knew it had something to do with optimization features. How did you find it, just stumped upon it going through cvars? hehe
