Post Topic: Crash on close Posted 22.03.2012, 13:02 |
Recently picked up the CryENGINE 3 Free SDK for a potential project coming up. Started the Sandbox and proceeded to run through some 'Getting Started' docs. After trying to close the Sandbox, it crashed with an access violation. The log is.. Kinda hoping this turns out to be a known deal and someone will chime in just telling me I missed a simple step. I've removed everything Crytek and started from scratch and get the same thing. If you need the dump file or anything to help with looking into this, toss me a message and I'll send it your way. Thanks.

Strange, i have no idea why it's crashing on close. There's a known issue where the Launcher crashes on close and the Editor crashes on close in Windows XP but you're using Win7, so not sure, sorry.

Can close this out if needed. Just had my dx runtimes set to debug. Bogged down everything else as well of course. Fixed it though after setting them back to retail runtimes. Sorry for the newbie issue.

Thanks for letting us know how you fixed it. I'm unaware of this debug mode you speak of, can you elaborate on it? How you set it? Cheers

If you have the DirectX SDK, there will be a control panel in the SDK\Utilities directory. From there you can open the DirectX Control Panel and set the runtimes for D3D9 under the Direct3D 9 tab.

Sorry for posting in this old thread, but I have the same issue. The editor often crashes on close, more often when clicking on the "X" than when clicking File > Exit.

Same issue here. I'm using the latest build (3.4.0.3696) and both 32 and 64 bit versions crash when exiting, no matter if done through the menu (File -> Exit) or by clicking on the 'X' button. And I just installed it!
Attached you can find the log file.
Any idea? Thanks in advance!

This has been fixed for next release. It's not advised to close Launcher with the 'x' button but it should stop crashing for most cases now.

I've just formatted my computer and reinstalled everything from scratch. The result when the editor is closed hasn't changed --> Unexpected error on close. Just downloaded 3.4.3 build 5047 and the same error keeps happening. In the Editor.log file (attached) you can see that there are a lot of lines at the end that I don't know what they mean, but it seems they shouldn't be there U_U. Code: ... Ending game context... Destroying CActionGame instance 2D5859E8 (level="") CCryLobbySessionHandler::OnGameShutdown(), m_userQuit=false, migrationState=0 Ammo Pool Statistics: [FEATURETESTER] Unloading all feature test data CGameLobby::~CGameLobby() canceling any pending tasks, Lobby: 2CE3B0A0 CGameLobby::CancelAllLobbyTasks Lobby: 2CE3B0A0 CGameBrowser::CancelSearching CGameBrowser::FinishedSearch() Flushing pended shaders... Finished flushing pended shaders... System:Quit ============================================================================= ============================================================================= ============================================================================= ... What am I missing?

Are you adding in those equals signs in the log?

Quote by Cry-Adam: Are you adding in those equals signs in the log? Mmmm... no. These are the lines I said that I don't know what they mean, lines made of "=".
