Hey all! Since January myself and Dee have been working on our final major project for university. We are looking for some crit, ideas and changes to improve the overall level. We are however in the last stages of development for the uni, but would like to still refine the piece after hand in. If needed we have development screenshots and analysis from concept to "completion" ;p Please forgive some of the sketchy texture work.

Just to clarify the level is some what stylised, we have tried to incorpate the renaissance artstyle into a medieval fantasy world, i question how successful we were but we have tried to keep it somewhat pretty

I guess it's meant to be cartoonish, lol, don't consider that a problem of the map. I think you 100% succeded on your mission, now that I think of it you could create some creative statues, like a knight riding a dragon or something like that. I think that's the first thing i think of when thinking of medieval age.

Indeed, cartoonish adjective isn't meant to be negative, it was just the impression I had looking at your screens. Vegetation assets fit well, only the spruce might be a little bit different IMO.

It's hard to tell from just static shots but the shadow range is dangerously close to looking blocked, try adjusting the contrast to rein that in a bit. The purple tone is also a tad overbearing. Otherwise, very nice aesthetic

Well you are looking for crits not for awsomens so: a) ground texture is to low res. It contrast hard with assets, which seem to have much bigger texel density. b) Grass. Well. It's not looking like grass at all. check 3dmotive for tutorial on creating foliage. It will tremendously improve look of your scene. Other than that, I don't have much to add.

Looks quite nice! The hill in pic2 seems too steep to me. I mean at least if someone is supposed to walk and not climb there. I believe the stones might also fall off it if they had something like gravity.

Looks good. Unique style. In pic2, just the cliffs next to the walls, either add some rocks or change the texture. Currently it has this gravel texture applied.

Looks nice! Seen the style a lot before but you've showed you can create and place assets well.

Wow ! Looks great, and funny ! I really like the cartoon style. Maybe you could work a bit on the terrain texture to make them look a bit more "cartoonistic". They look like between realistic and cartoon, they could look a bit better. Also, what season is it ? We can see brown grass and leaves and flowers, there's a little contradiction here, but it's not shocking.
Great work anyway, I'm looking forward for the next screenshots ! =)
