Post Topic: C2 / CE3 bokeh shapes? Posted 27.03.2012, 00:53 |
I found a selection of Bokeh shapes .dds files in :
Gamecrysis2/shaders/EngineAssets/screenspace/
Bokeh_love.dds Bokeh_music.dds_ Bokeh_pentagon.dds etc etc
Please I am trying to make some cinematic shots and this would be really useful if anyone can help me..
Cheers,
Alex

sorry was half asleep when I wrote that..lol well to actually see them applied to the DOF would be nice, at present it is a simple spherical blur, I would like hexagons / pentagons instead.. any ideas how?

Look in the back. The bokeh shapes are different.

In those images its not so obvious but if you look closely at the second one the small shapes created by lights in the background when out of focus are pentagonal not spherical, when you exaggerate the blur these shapes get bigger, different movie lenses / iris shapes create different shapes when things become blurred, I want hexagonal / pentagonal as for the project I am working on I want to create a very filmic look, there was a custom shader for cryengine 2 written but I need this running in Ce3..
Any help from crytek would be much appreciated as I cant find anything in the docs..
cheers..

Hm. Very interesting. I also find-saw this different bokeh shape(.dds) a long time ago. Maybe someone can tell what need to change, maybe some line in some code, to use specific .dds file, one of those.

Don't you need access to the sourcecode for the renderer to change it? That's not available for Crysis 2 and it's highly unlikely it ever will.

aww if thats the case thats a real shame, they could have just added a simple material field to let you load the other shapes.. oh well..

I would not be surprised if this pops up in the DX11 update, like it did with the Crysis 2 one.
