game testing (or QA) could be a dream job if your dream is to test games - that means, if you enjoy tracking down bugs, trying out hard-to-replicate manoeuvres to expose a potential exploit in a level, learning how the game works and then trying to break it (and make the coders angry), this job is for you.
If you enjoy playing games, landing a job as a tester can potentially ruin for you the titles you're assigned to test.
They dont need to hire Qa testers, we can do that job for free In fact , really, we do that all the time...We, the gamers, find more bugs and glitchs than any paid QA tester and even we pay for that.
If fact, one of the reasons why a game MUST have a demo, is that the Dev company can use the players as free Qa testers....hmmm, dont you think?

During my career i met many testers, good and bad (mostly bad). Like always, if you are enjoying your job, you do that good otherwise it's boring to you and you do it lacking any interest of result. Mostly is testing game runing whole levels around and around in set amount of time, so you dont have too much time doing unpredictable things which are mostly biggest bugs. Testing game is realy stereotyped work and after half day you are going crazy And dont forget about crunches, youre working 20 hours in day, mostly without sleep, bath, visiting family... Many people thinks that working as game developer is dream job, but it's not entirely true. This job can give you a lot but it can take much more

Btw just note, youre talking about Focus Testing but thats ending phase of game develop. Normal QA testing is something realy different.

Well I am very close to germany. I send apply and we will see. But I am only a student so I didn't asked for payment (my purpose is to get eperience).
Wrong attitude, you should always get payment for your work. How else are you supposed to pay for rent, food and insurance?
When I applied I said that i want to have travel and living expenses covered by them. I also said that I will do this for free because I'm just a student and need experience(still in school).

enlighten me. what is the normal QA testing?
Normal testing in QA is testing with test plan. You have test scenario which say ie. check conversation between NPC A and NPC B in mission 5. Tester is supposed to check this conversation and make record if conversation respond to this test case (ie. one phrase is missing, in french language is speaking only one NPC etc.) and he run whole plan point by point. Thats normal testing with plan. Together is testing with just playing game and checking if game wont crash (here is needed comunication skill for describing crash how precise you can). In those situations are some tests for E3, GDS and other actions... Focus testing is testing of almost final product. You take volunteers (people who don't know game, so they can't be testers and other employees), put them into room with build and watch their reactions when playing. Good focus testin can give great output about balancing game, potentionaly hard or impassable places, reaction to some events...
