Problem is the mod we had doesn't scale well with large installations (we have almost 800k posts) because it does some kind of funky search that slows the whole system down.
  No dev/modding PM's please, use the forums! :)

Speaking of which, how hellishly long is that thing going to be under construction? It's been three quarters of a year, surely it can't be too far down the priorities list... you know... with it being one of the key features of the site and all that....  Not to sound like I'm complaining, but it could be perceived as a very mild form of complaining.

Old downloads that can still be used (making them hard to find doesn't make them unusable) is low on the priority list in comparison to getting the Projects Database up to spec. Right now we're working on the user profile page and tying in the PDB there as well. After that we're going to be going through and fixing up a bunch of little annoyances with the news system, various layout issues and small bugs. Then we'll start on the downloads archive.
