Destroyable object
To be set up as destroyable object according to the picture. Additionally "Mass" can be set to "80" and "PushableByPlayers" to "True". Editor may need to be restarted for destroyable object to appear on level.

Could you explain in detail how you set up your jointed/destroyables ? I finally got one sort of working by merging your file with mine but it crashes the editor as soon as it breaks. (and if I set it up from scratch it has bad rotations, scaling, it's a mess basically)

I'll try to write a basic tutorial... after late lunch Generally locations, rotations and scales need to be applied via "Object/Apply"-menu (Ctrl+A).

Thanks, didn't know that. I've been messing around with the instructions in the cookbook but ofcourse I need to convert the instructions to blender which was a bit too confusing. fixed crashing for now, it's also breaking like it should it's just that just something seems off ...

Ha ! It finally works, thanks for the help. Apparently Cryengine's density = 1 does not equal that of water but of air. Damn, driving through those fences with a tank is satisfying >:) Just gotta find the right settings so I no longer run through them. I'll upload them within a few mins after I'm done fiddling with the settings a bit.

Post Topic: Destroyable object tutorial Posted 15.04.2012, 18:27 |
Basic tutorial for creating a destroyable object in CryBlend 2.0.2-3A simple destroyable object is created in this tutorial. Object is usable as a destroyable entity in CE3. Prerequisite skills - Ability to create a simple model with physics and export it to CE3.
Sources -- Creating unbroken object- Create new mesh and set a physicalised material for it.
- Set item's name to "main".
- If needed, adjust pivot, scale and rotation.
- Apply location, scale and rotation via "Object/Apply"-menu (Ctrl-A).
- Add used defined property (UDP) "mass=value" from CryBlend-menu "AddCustomProperties/Add JOINTED (pre-broken) BREAKABLES Properties" and set it to suitable value. It's recommendable that this value is equal to sum of masses of items in broken (dead) state created in next chapter.
Creating broken objects- Duplicate unbroken item with Shift-D and name it "remain".
- Subdivide or otherwise split the item to suitable pieces resembling broken object.
- Separate pieces without moving them. After separation an empty item "remain" may exists and must be deleted.
- Add missing faces to separated items.
- Rename separated items as "remain_01", "remain_02", ...
- For each item, add used defined properties "entity" and "mass=value" from CryBlend-menu. Total mass of items should be equal to the mass of unbroken (alive) object created in first chapter.
- Select all items, add CryExportNode and export as usual.
-- Unbroken object with a duplicate for creating broken objects.
Setup of broken objects.
Destroyable object setup in Sandbox. "Mass" can be set to the value given for unbroken object. Editor may need to be restarted for destroyable object to appear on level.
-- Blender source for breakable object here. Please send me a PM about any suggestions for improvements
