She was designed to take up to 68 lifeboats, but they only brought along twenty because of a little dispute.

Quote by Maximum-Dev: Again you talked without research Where exactly are you getting your information? It's EXTREMELY common knowledge that there weren't enough lifeboats brought along. Do you want the most fundamental source of information available? Here you go: Quote by Wikipedia: Notoriously,Titanic did not have enough lifeboats to evacuate everyone on board. She only had enough lifeboats to take about a third of the ship's total capacity. Had every lifeboat been filled, they could only have evacuated about 53 per cent of those actually on board on the night of her sinking. The shortage of lifeboats was not due to a lack of space; Titanic had been designed to accommodate up to 68 boats – nor was it because of cost, as the price of an extra 32 lifeboats would only have been some $16,000, a tiny fraction of the $7.5 million that the company had spent on Titanic. The reason lay in a combination of outdated safety regulations and complacency by the White Star Line, Titanic's operators. Now can you stop being an ignorant asshole? I'll bet you also were unaware that the reason she crashed rests entirely on the captain's shoulders.

Now boys, both of you are right. Titanic did not have enough lifeboats to evacuate everyone on board. But in 1912 laws where a bit different. Back then law told that every ship size of Titanic must carried 16 lifeboats at least. 4 less than Titanic had. Titanic actually provided more lifeboats than was legally required. In fact, lifeboats were intended to ferry survivors from a sinking ship to a rescuing ship, not keep afloat the whole population of passengers.

I'll bet you also were unaware that the reason she crashed rests entirely on the captain's shoulders. At the moment it was a new rule, the rule said Ship must be build as a lifeboat itself ! And a big lifeboat must not carry many lifeboats too. As they said Titanic must be build unsinkable, so the law said its unsinkable and must have a few lifeboats. so the law explained for Titanic to carry even fewer than half of the regular number of lifeboats, they said even if Titanic break into 3 parts still it wont sink and will remain on the water so it had completely enough boats. 1. If that rule wud let them they wud have more lifeboats. 2. If the signalman wasnt asleep, then even no boats were required. 3. If engineers were doing it great, it wudnt sink even when the signalman was asleep.

I don't care about laws.. I ain't getting on a big ship unless there's a lifeboat for me.. On the news here they spotlighted a story about descendants taking the same journey.. They are probaly near the site as I write this.. Oh also forget the law as now we coast guard!!

seriously u all got it wrong .. it was hard too see the iceberg due to calm waters creating a bling mirage effect making anything in front of the ship hard to see..
