http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xI7C5xlN ... =603s&hd=1 - eye catching mod, realy like theme and realism! On start you have a pistol, some food and 225km2 sandbox map to explore, with zombies, other players, transports... Will try this mod soon .

I've been playing this a lot recently. It is very good, but there is a bug which stops zombies from spawning. Kinda ruins the game a bit, hopefully they will have it fixed asap. If anyone needs someone to team up with let me know

I've been wondering when a thread like this will pop up... The playerbase for Day Z has grown from 15000 to 35000 in a week or so, making Arma 2 Combined Operations the 5th most sold game on Steam. I bought the game too just for this mod, haven't had the chance to play much yet. It's an awesome mod no doubt, although my experience (3 short sessions so far) has always been very frustrating: spawn on beach - wander along the coast 20 minutes or so until you find a small village with absolutely no loot whatsoever - encounter a couple zombies and kill them - be killed by a random survivor who decides to attack you for no reason. I'm sure once I get a few more hours in it'll be a great experience though... The success of Day Z only goes to show what huge demand there is currently for an open world zombie survival MMO!

Oh don't go around telling the idea guys that Surprisingly it's a whole lot easier to bring such a game into alpha when you've got a ready-made 225 km² map, guns, vehicles and animated character models to be used...

Arma generally has awesome open world gameplay. There's one mod that has a huge dynamic AI battle going on everywhere on the map.
They really have an awesome AI system.

YEah i do like ARMA II.. movement seesm a bit clunky but i think its suppose to be like that.
Anyway been playing @Dayz for a few weeks and its awesome. I believe the guy doing the mod is actually a dev for Arma II and III and does the mod in his spare time.

I have been playing Day Z with my gaming clan since day one, and love it so far! This mod has GREAT potential to be a future AAA mod/game release... Especially considering the developer is working on ArmA 3! Which I can't f'n wait for! I'll see all u Day Z players in game! *I play with the 42nd Air Assault Regiment...We play ArmA 2, MW3, BF3, Minecraft etc.

There is one already in the works by Undead Labs (AFAIR), a company founded by one of the ArenaNET guys. In other words, if you have been planning for it, you are bit late

Guys, a really nice place to set up is Rog. It's a very little place on top of a hill in the south-east of the map (it's north-west of Kamishovo). There are spawns there and not many zombies (it's really small. Like 2 buildings and a crumbling wall) Good place to camp out if you want gear. Also, map: http://avidblur.com/arma2/

This is a perfect example of why games need to be modable. ARMA:Combined Ops was in the bottom of the barrel, then went to the best selling game on steam and to be the most played game on steam within a week.
