I've been streamlining the code, fixing bugs and generally making it work better. For the next release rock-climbing isn't available but a couple of rock climbing code features are still in to make getting around a bit easier. Recently I've been using the archmod script to convert some city buildings i've modelled in Archicad.
UPDATE 13th June ROCK CLIMBING
The newest feature I've developed and I'm currently making the animations for is an Assassin's Creed style wall climbing function. This allows you to climb along any wall by grabbing onto the parts that stick out.
If a wall is flat you cannot rock climb it! However, if you come across a loose brick, beams, down pipes, or anything that sticks out enough it is now something you can use to boost yourself up, move across or climb down.
The keys work so that "C" is the manual climb button.
So you go up to a pole, or jutting out brick, standing as close as you can, look at it directly and press C. A message will let you know if your ready for climbing. Once it says you are ready the buttons change.
"W" is climb up
"S" is climb down
"A" is climb left
"D" is climb right
For each of these buttons you hold it down to continue moving in that direction. Letting go of the button will latch you onto whatever last foot/hand hold you had. When you are in this position you can jump off, or continue climbing with the movement buttons. If it is too difficult to find another ledge from this position pressing C will cycle through all the perceived grabbing points from your position; usually this will allow you to continue moving with W,S,A or D. If there are absolutely no grabbing points then you will have to jump off.
"Space" is jump off, so you can climb across a wall and jump out in any direction. You can even jump at the wall you were just rock climbing to wall run the rest of the way up!
Here is a demo movie. As I said before I need to make new animations, but you can see that the system works! I even made the path I climb especially difficult so that it would be impossible unless the code worked!
Update 11st June
I´ve added new climbing moves make getting around much, much easier by providing more ways of getting where you need to be.
First off you have pole climbing - go up to anything that resembles a vertical pole or pipe in shape no more than 50 cm in diametre and you can climb up it and jump off it!
Secondly you have edge shimmering - If you have yourself attached to an edge you can move yourself along that edge with left or right provided there is enough room to do so.
Now that these two things are in i'm adding drain pipes and stuff to the sides of buildings in the city map where the action will take place. I'm also working on a kind of assassin's creed style climbing system that allows you to move across a wall in all directions as long as there is something to grab onto. Its already working surprisingly well but I think I'll wait for V3 to release that.
Heya here is a new video of Momentum. The ALL WITHIN MY HANDS system has been added to edge grabbing while various leg animations have also been added. I'm updating the obstacle jumping animations for the hands so you will notice a curious lack of that ****, but the flowgraph is much less buggy, and the version shown in the video is merely the old mirrors edge flowgraph updated with the hand animations and leg animations. This means that for all the noobs who didn't like parachuting, ninja rope, abseil, diving, sliding, rolling, and turning then this is for you. This version is one simple flowgraph that can be added to any level and work without having to modify any part of the flowgraph.
UPDATE 23 May 2010
Here is a demo of my hand animation system. Now that I've worked out multiple layers of heights I'm going to add more height levels = at the moment my system has three height levels and each height level has three separate animation paths for a left hand only grab, both hands grab and right hand only grab. Hence at the moment I have 9 possible climb hand positions. In the end I'm going to try and get this to something like 27.
In the movie the animations both grab and let go slowly, I've done this for the movie purposely to show as you move on/off the edge the animation starts. It looks better when the animations are played quickly. Also when the animations play quickly they blend better with other animations that may play instead of the letting go animation.
This system is going to replace the old parkour hand animation system but still utilise the same triggers and stopping mechanisms.
Either way here is my demo movie.

UPDATE 24th of April:
I'm not dead yet suckers. Here is a video of the less glitchy new version with updated animations:
I've taken out free-aim, sometime later I'll release a parkour-less version of the mod perhaps to showcase it as unfortunately it gets pretty complicated with the climbing. So for now I'll be releasing my mirror's edge version.
UPDATE 2: Here are some new animations for sliding and vaulting over low/mid objects. The vaulting is with Darkwish's mirror's edge flowgraph, I just added the animation to the flowgraph in my testing mod for my own fun.
Today I went through my testing map and cut out all the flowgraph fat of incomplete components for my mod so I could submit a new working release version. Anyway, here are the things in this new version of the mod -
Hand and Leg Animations for climbing, wall running, vaulting
View locking when climbing
ninja rope (right mouse button with fists out)
repelling (left mouse button with fists out)
parachute (shift whilst in the air with nothing around you [3m radius])
Lunge Melee (t whilst in front of an object, entity)
Here are the things that I already had.
Momentum based turning (a and d for sharp turns, q and e for smaller turns)
Rolling while prone (q and e)
Diving (z whilst sprinting)
Sliding (lctrl whilst sprinting)
Animations for vaulting over small obstacles (updated, 3 separate levels of height)
Animations for Sliding (updated)
Metroid Prime lock on view (caps lock)
OLD STUFF (huge meh to reading this part)
Cheers Darkwish, never talked to you, never got your approval on any of this, please don't beat me, and good luck developing your new eden project.
